The Argo has returned to port and bathed in all her
glory, and Viola and Sebastian are not shipwrecked until March, but your UFV
Theatre Students are not slowing down any time soon.

Welcome
to THEA 316, an Upper-Level theatre course where the students run the world.
Well, they run this production.
This year, UFV’s Theatre Department is doing something
a little different, giving students a chance to choose, cast, direct, design,
create, market, and produce a show. Every aspect of the production will be
brought to audiences by the beautiful and talented minds of these sixteen
theatre students. With the guidance and wisdom of their professor, Heather Davis-Fisch,
and faculty members Bruce Kirkley (Department Head), Parjard Sharifi (Assistant
Professor), Heather Robertson (Wardrobe Manager), Phil Schulze (Carpenter),
Mark Sutherland (Theatre Technician) and Leigh Kerr (Production Coordinator),
the THEA 316 Ensemble Project will present The
Romeo Initiative, by Trina Davies.
The Romeo Initiative is a story of love, lies, and intrigue, told
against a backdrop of Cold War politics in 1970's Germany.
All’s fair in love and war,
right?
This production stars Emily
Eggert-Botkin, Reilly Ellis, and Delaney Bergstrom, with Shawna Lawson
directing, and Phay Gagnon assistant directing. Eli Funk is production managing
and Eli Moores is stage managing. Calvin Baker and Nial Harrison-Morry have
taken the large responsibility of Artistic and Technical Coordinators, with
Geneva Perkins as Sound and Lighting designer, Nicole Janisch as Props and Set
Designer, Noel Funk as Projections Designer, and Desiree Hale and
Trudy-Bridgette Smith as Costume and Hair & Make-Up Designers. Marketing,
Publicity and House Management is split between Kirstin Shale and Jessica
Milliken (yours truly).
We are also the ops, ushers,
and running crew. All positions and jobs were proposed and voted on in
class, where we renamed the course THEA 316: How to Collaborate and Vote.
The show runs from January 14th – January
17th at CEP’s Performance Studio, in Chilliwack at 45190 Caen
Avenue, building A, room 2106.
